About us

2nd Donaghadee Scout Group brings together young people to enjoy, adventure, friendship, fun and personal development. It inspires its leaders and helpers to meet the needs of young people today.

2nd Donaghadee Scout Group was the brainchild of the then Minister of First Presbyterian Church, the Rev Harry Gamble. He found a campsite near the town for a visiting Scout Group from Bonnybridge in Scotland and soon fell under the spell of Scouting. Rev Gamble was so impressed with the adventure, the fellowship and values inherent in the Scout Movement he set about establishing 2nd Donaghadee.

The Cub Pack came first in 1961 and was followed closely by the Scout Troop as the Cubs reached Scout age. In the years since then, the Group has established a record for good Scouting second to none. Our Beaver and Squirrel Sections were amongst the first in Northern Ireland.
